MRBA

Upper Missisquoi and Trout Rivers Wild & Scenic Committee (UMATR) is proud to have a sister organization, The Missisquoi River Basin Association (MRBA) that we share our values with. Learn more about MRBA below and how you can get involved with the organization!
About MRBA
Founded in 1996 but a group of concerned community members, the Missisquoi River Basin Association is is an active, non-profit group of staff and volunteers dedicated to the restoration of the Missisquoi River, its tributaries, and the Missisquoi Bay. MRBA bring together diverse interest groups within the greater community – teachers, farmers, summer residents, loggers, business owners, environmental experts, outdoor enthusiasts, municipal officers, woodland owners, and involved citizens.
Missisquoi River Basin Association is governed by a board consisting of community members across the Missisquoi Watershed and beyond.
The Missisquoi River is 88 miles long and flows through two countries. Starting in northern Vermont, the river then flows into southern Quebec, Canada, and returns to Vermont before draining into Lake Champlain at Missisquoi Bay.
The MRBA works to restore and maintain the ecological integrity of the Missisquoi River system.
In order to improve water quality and restore habitat, the Missisquoi River Basin Association collects water samples, plants trees, removes invasive species, removes trash from our waterways and promotes stewardship and education.
