January 15th- Fish in the UMATR Region with Lee Simard
Join us for our first installment of our 2026 winter speaker series. Lee Simard will be presenting on fish in the UMATR region and his work with the state. Lee grew up in Swanton, Vermont and attended the University of Vermont where he earned a B.S. in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Wildlife Biology in 2012. He completed his Master’s degree in Natural Resources from UVM in December, 2016 after studying the spawning behavior of invasive lake trout in Yellowstone Lake, Yellowstone National Park. As a fisheries biologist, Lee assesses, manages and protects fish populations ad their habitats in lakes and streams throughout southern Vermont. He works on cold water and warmwater sportfish populations as well as rare, endangered and threatened fish species.
